Description

This weld-on heavy-duty steel #42 spindle is a common replacement for 6 lug and 8 lug trailer axles with brake systems. The spindle has a 2 1/4 inch diameter weld-on butt that is designed to weld into axle tubing to replace a damaged or unusable spindle, or to build a new straight trailer axle from scratch. The spindle accommodates typical 6 lug or 8 lug hub bearing combinations; a 1 1/4 inch ID outer bearing, 1 3/4 inch ID inner bearing, and 2 1/4 inch ID seal size. The pre-welded 5 hole brake flange is sized to fit standard 12 inch and 13 inch trailer disc brake kits, such as those manufactured by Kodiak, DeeMaxx, Dexter, or Tie Down Engineering, as well as 12 inch electric or hydraulic drum brake backing plates. The included EZ Lube grease zerk fitting allows you to easily relubricate the hub without disassembly, you just need to attach a Standard Grease Gun and pump in your preferred Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease.

This spindle can accommodate a few different-sized bearing kits depending on the hubs you use on your trailer, but most commonly you would use our 6 Bolt Trailer Bearing Kit or 8 Bolt Trailer Bearing Kit. If you needed your hubs as well as the bearings, you could use our Galvanized 6 Bolt Idler Hub Kit or Galvanized 8 Bolt Idler Hub Kit to finish your project. This product is great for repairing a spindle that has been broken or damaged, or for an experienced individual to build a straight axle from scratch. This spindle does not come with hardware included so you will need to use a 1 inch Round Spindle Washer and 1 inch Trailer Castle Nut, as well as a 1/8 inch Spindle Cotter Key to keep the spindle nut from backing off while you are on the road.
