This unitized trailer oil seal has an inner diameter of 2.875 inches and fits heavy-duty trailer hubs and drums on 9,000 to 10,000 lb Dexter axles. The outer diameter of the oil seal measures 3.88 inches and is compatible with Dexter 9k and 10k general duty hubs, but you will want to check your trailer hub and seal dimensions and seal numbers as well to ensure you are purchasing the correct seals for replacement. Unitized oil seals function by having two pieces of the seal working independently, the outer part of the seal attached to the hub and stays fixed in place, while the inner piece of the seal stays fixed to the spindle and rotates, allowing the seal to keep the oil within the hub much more effectively than standard one-piece seals. This also allows the seal to better protect the hub's bearings and oil from intrusion by water, dust, dirt, or other intrusive materials.
