This is a unitized trailer oil seal sized to fit a selection of 5,200 lb to 8,000 lb trailer hubs and brake drums with an outer seal diameter of 3.376 inches and an inner diameter of 2.250 inches. This oil seal is designed to be used with most standard style #42 spindles, most commonly seen on trailers with 6,000 lb to 8,000 lb weight capacity axles and 6 lug or 8 lug trailer hubs. Unitized seals are specially designed to make oil bath hubs more reliable and resistant to leaking; the inner component remains fixed to the wear sleeve or seal surface of the axle, while the exterior rotates with the hub or drum. This design keeps unitized seals in better working condition for longer than a traditional single or double lipped grease seal and is crucial for safe operation of oil bath lubricated hubs. The seal also assists in keeping dust, water, dirt, and any other intrusive materials out.
