Description
This Trailer Roller Bearing is the Standard Bearing Number 44643, which means it's designed to fit on a 1" Spindle, and into the Bearing Race # 44610. This is a Tapered Roller-Style Bearing, which is the most common bearing type among Trailer Hubs. This particular bearing is typically used on Trailers with a Capacity of 2,000 - 2,200lbs. This Size Bearing is usually seen in 4 Lug or 5 Lug Trailer Hubs, but it is not the only bearing size found in hubs of that capacity. For this reason, it's always best to check your Trailer Hubs and Axle to make sure you get a proper Bearing replacement for your Boat or Utility Trailer. For example, this bearing is typically used in pairs on a 1 inch straight spindle in the 2,000lb capacity range, but there is also a 1 1/16" spindle and bearing combination in the same 2,000lb weight rating as well. This small 1/16" diameter difference is important, so it's necessary to double-check your Trailers Bearing Numbers or to measure the Spindle size using digital calipers to make sure you get the correct bearings for your Trailer.
Bearing's need regular maintenance and Periodic replacement in order to keep your trailer in safe operating order. Most of the time Bearings are replaced in pairs, along with the Trailer Grease Seal. If you are looking to replace all of your trailer bearings and the grease seals, we do sell Trailer Bearing Kits on our website which could get you all the parts you need in one simple package.
Here is a link to our Bearing Kit Category.
To install a Bearing into your trailer hub, you need to start by Packing the Bearing full of grease. Take a handful of Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease and press the bearing into it, rotating the bearing as you go to get grease in each of the individual rollers. Once you've completely packed the bearing, simply drop it into your trailer Hub so it sits inside the matching Race. Depending on if the Bearing is the Inner or Outer Bearing of the hub, it will be secured into place with either the Hub's Grease Seal or the Flat Washer and Locking Mechanism on your Trailer Spindle.
