This tapered trailer roller bearing is designed to fit 10,000 lb axle hubs, with an inner bearing dimension of 2 5/8 inches that fits into matching race number 394A. This is a Tapered Roller-Style Bearing, which is the most common bearing type among Trailer Hubs. This Size Bearing is usually seen in 8 Lug Trailer Hubs, but it is not the only bearing size found in those hubs. 8 Lug Trailer Hubs can range from 7,000lb Capacity to over 10,000lbs Capacity, and thus use a variety of Bearing Sizes.  For this reason, it's always best to check your Trailer Hubs and Axle to make sure you get a proper Bearing replacement for your Boat or Utility Trailer. You can commonly find this bearing used as an inner bearing on 10,000 lb capacity Dexter idler and drum hubs, with the 2 1/4 inch 387A Trailer Bearing used as the outer bearing.

Bearing's need regular maintenance and Periodic replacement in order to keep your trailer in safe operating order.  Most of the time Bearings are replaced in pairs, along with the Trailer Grease Seal.  If you are looking to replace all of your trailer bearings and the grease seals, we do sell Trailer Bearing Kits on our website which could get you all the parts you need in one simple package.  Here is a link to our Bearing Kit Category.

To install a Bearing into your trailer hub, you need to start by Packing the Bearing full of grease.  Take a handful of Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease and press the bearing into it, rotating the bearing as you go to get grease in each of the individual rollers.  Once you've completely packed the bearing, simply drop it into your trailer Hub so it sits inside the matching Race.  Depending on if the Bearing is the Inner or Outer Bearing of the hub, it will be secured into place with either the Hub's Grease Seal or the Flat Washer and Locking Mechanism on your Trailer Spindle.
