Description

This black-painted equalizer bar or pivot bar is used to attach leaf springs on both ends of a tandem axle trailer together. This equalizer bar is made with sturdy black painted steel, with 9/16 inch inner diameter nylon bushings pre-installed. This bar is perfect for utility trailers or some freshwater boat trailers that are not exposed to salty environments. The pivot bar measures 7 3/4 inches from center to center across the bottom two holes, and 2 7/8 inches from the center of the top hole to center of the bottom two holes. This equalizer bar in particular is commonly seen on tandem axle trailers with 3,500 lb 5 lug axles using 1 3/4 inch wide springs.

Equalizer bars are used to assist in keeping the weight of the trailer evenly distributed across the two axles, so as the trailer moves the suspension can articulate the equalizer and pivot to keep the load distributed between the axles, rather than just bearing down on a single axle. The pre-installed 9/16" ID bushings are used commonly on land trailers and utility trailers, but if you are planning to use this pivot bar on your boat trailer you will probably need three Boat Trailer Leaf Spring Bushings, 1/2 inch ID, 11/16 OD.
