Description

This is a zinc plated steel trailer leaf spring shackle, measuring 3 7/8 inches in overall length with holes sized to accommodate 9/16 inch diameter trailer spring bolts. The shackle measures 2 5/8 inches measured from center hole to center hole across the shackle and is constructed of 1/4 inch thick zinc plated steel material. Spring shackles are an essential component of a double-eye leaf spring trailer suspension, both on single axle and tandem axle setups. Spring shackles are the components that allow Double Eye Style Leaf springs to actually provide suspension; in single axle setups these shackles will move backwards to provide the needed suspension for the trailer, while on a tandem axle arrangement the shackles will attach the Leaf Spring to the equalizer bar to provide suspension and equalization of weight while towing.

The spring shackle you use on your trailer can have an effect on the ride height of your trailer. On single axle trailers, where you would use two shackles per side mounted towards the rear; a longer leaf spring shackle will increase the ride height of the trailer, and a shorter will lower the ride height. While on a tandem axle trailer, where you will use four shackles per side mounted in the center; a longer leaf spring shackle will lower the ride height of the trailer, while a shorter shackle will increase the ride height. This Shackle has spring bolt mounting holes sized to accept 9/16" diameter Leaf Spring Mounting Bolts. The zinc plated coating will prevent rust and corrosion better than a raw steel shackle, so this 2 5/8 inch length trailer spring shackle makes a great replacement for cargo trailers, utility trailers, and some freshwater boat trailers!
