Stainless Steel 1/2" x 3 1/2" Bolt
Bolt used for mounting Leaf Spring
Bolt comes with Nylock Nut
This Stainless Steel Leaf Spring Mounting bolt is most common on Boat Trailers. Their are two common diameters of trailer Leaf Spring Bolts on most trailers, the 1/2 inch diameter, and the 9/16" Diameter. We would mostly see 1/2" on boat trailers, and 9/16" on land trailers. However, their is some cross-over depending upon trailer manufacturer, so it is best to confirm before ordering. For this particular bolt, more than likely you are needing it for a boat trailer. The Stainless Steel material allows it to be completely rust proof and structurally sound at the same time. These bolts can be used on trailers of all sizes. When selecting the amount of bolts that you need, take into account all the mounting hardware that makes up your trailers suspension.
If your boat trailer previously had non stainless hardware, you are in for a real treat! Once you have cut off, or burnt of your old and rusted bolts, these stainless bolts will never fail on you once installed.
For optimal performance, spray additional lubricant on the threads of the stainless steel bolt threads before tightening. We have pre-sprayed these bolts with White Lithium Grease before shipping them to you, but it would not hurt to apply more to the threads. Reason being, stainless steel and nylock nuts can gall and seize when excessive heat is applied. Do Not use an Impact gun on these bolts. They must be hand tightened.
While these bolts require a little additional installation care, they will last the life of your trailer once installed. And once more, when the time comes to replace your leaf springs, you will simply be able to remove these bolts with hand tools, and re-install them after.
Common Single Axle Slipper Spring Suspensions will have (2) to (4) of these Bolts per side.
Common Single Axle Double Eye Leaf Spring Suspensions will have (3) of these Bolts per side. Tandem Axle versions of the double eye suspension will have (7) of these bolts per side.
For Reverse Curve Leaf Springs, if they are using 1/2" Bolts, they will have (2) Per side on a single axle suspension, and usually (4) per side on a tandem axle suspension. (Reverse Curve Springs more commonly use 9/16" hardware)
Work well but use a lubricant to prevent galling
These work well but I had one gall and had to cut it off. Talked to customer service and they were great and sent out a replacement free of charge and recommended to use a lubricant like lithium grease on the threads to prevent galling as stainless has a tendency to do. Also be sure to tighten slowly with hand tools only which I was doing when it galled. With using the lubricant I had no more issues and will be nice to not have rusted bolts in the future. Be aware that the unthreaded section of these bolts will likely be shorter than the typical spring steel bolts and they do not have a splined section near the head to lock the bolt from rotating like the spring steel bolts do. This results in the threaded portion of the bolt contacting the channel at the nut end but that should hopefully be ok, and since the bolts will not corrode they should preferentially allow the leaf spring bushings to slide vs rotating the bolt so as to not wear the hole larger

No more worries about hidden corrosion and cheaper than I could buy at the local hardware or big box stores. And they didn’t even stick the stainless locknuts.

After wrestling with 10+ year old galvanized bolts on my spring replacement project, I paid a little extra money for stainless steel and don't feel I will regret it as every stainless component on my trailer was still in excellent condition even after all the time spent in Salt water
