This is a great disc brake set manufactured by Kodiak.  This is one of their 5 bolt 3,500# capacity disc brake kits.  This particular brake kit has Dacromet coated rotors and mounting brackets but is paired with their Stainless Steel calipers.  This is Kodiaks part # 2/RCM-10-DAC-SS.  This kit is designed to fit on 3,500# capacity axles using the standard 4 bolt brake flange.  This trailer disc brake kit will fit with 14 or larger wheels.  We have put together Kodiak's brake kit with a set of our hot dipped galvanized idler hubs with inner and outer bearings and seals.  This slip-on style rotor is great b/c your hub and rotor are separate pieces.  Which means you can replace them independently of each other.  This means if you get broken down on the side of the road b/c of a bearing failure you can replace your broken hub that are commonly available and still re-use your kodiak rotor.  The hubs are hot dipped galvanized to help repel rust.  This is a great kit if you are switching from drum brakes to disc brakes b/c it allows you to ditch your drum brake hubs in favor of a set of idler hubs that you can use with Kodiaks brake kit.  You must have 14" or larger wheels to use with this kit.  Using Kodiaks slip on brake set will add about a 1/2" of overall length to your axle.  This means that your tires and wheels will sit about 1/4" out further on each side.

Whats included:

This kit includes (2) Dacromet coated 10 vented rotors.  The vented rotors help dissipate heat quickly.  Also included are (2) 3,500# capacity hot dipped galvanized idler hubs that use a 1 3/8" (68149) inner bearing and an 1 1/16" (44649) outer bearing.  (2) Dacromet caliper mounting brackets. (2) Calipers that are 100% STAINLESS STEEL inside and out except for the brass fittings where your brake lines run in.  The brake pads are made of ceramic so that they will not rust.  The calipers ride on (4) Stainless Steel caliper mounting bolts.  An installation and instruction manual is also provided.

We think this kit is the best bang for your buck.  The most important part of any disc brake kit is the calipers.  In this case the calipers are made of stainless steel and will provide many years of trouble free service.  The parts that are easily replaceable such as the rotor and mounting brackets are Dacromet coated to help keep costs down.

Kodiak offers a 3 year warranty on all of their Dacromet coated parts, a 6 year warranty on the Stainless Steel calipers and on the ceramic brake pads against separation.

Good, but go all SS instead!
Great kit, much better than the Tie-Down discs I replaced due to binding up after only 2 years. However in hindsight I wish I'd gone with the all SS kit, as the coating on the Dacromet rotors obviously wears off the braking surface after the first use, leaving the cast iron exposed - after 3 years of weekly/bi-weekly use (5 month season) the rotors were highly rusted/pitted, and chewed up the pads. Even with removing the entire brake kit every fall and storing inside for winter. After 3 years, I ended up replacing the rotors with the all SS ones, and new pads. It is obviously cheaper to bight the bullet and get the all SS kit from the get-go. One other note, it seems the dust boots on the calipers seem to develop splits / cracks after 1-2 seasons, such that I find myself replacing those when I pull the brakes off for the winter. The boots are not expensive, but it's a tad of a pain to have to essentially rebuild the calipers every other fall. Still, I think the Kodiak kits are among the best out there. Just go all SS!

Kodiak Brake Kit
This kit contained everything I needed for one complete axle brake kit. This kit appealed to me because it is possible to turn these rotors if you needed to. Sturdy Built had the best price I could find anywhere. The Kit arrived quickly and I was able to install fairly easily to my older Tie Down model 66 actuator. I would recommend buying the mounting bolts from sturdy built as well(better price)as I found out later. This was installed on a Aluminum Double 3500# Axle trailer 21'cc Sea Pro. Pulled it down the road with the old ford and it stopped smooth and quick! Can't wait to test them on a long haul fishing trip. Thank you Sturdy built!

Kodiak Slip on Disc Brake Kit w/ss Calipers 5-bolt
The parts arrived very quickly and packaged to withstand a nuclear blast. They installed easily and appear to be made of quality stuff. Found the brake lines and master cylinder was bad on the system before I could try them out. Had to order more stuff to get the system up and functioning correctly. Can't wait to pull that heavy a** boat and see how it feels to have brakes that work!!!
