Sturdy Built disc brakes are designed specifically for use on saltwater boat trailers. Every caliper is assembled by hand at our facility in Palmetto FL. We use premium and specialty greases, lubricants, primers, and sealants when building Sturdy Built calipers. The result is a caliper that lasts. In fact, we are so confident that our caliper will last longer than our competition that we offer the industry’s longest warranty at 4 YEARS.

OUR PROCESS:
Our calipers are assembled from scratch in Palmetto Florida. Having assembly take place in our facility allows for us to perform a detailed visual inspection of each component to ensure that high quality standards are maintained. Each caliper is made up of 10 distinct components each with their own unique and specific assembly requirements. The inlet and bleeders are installed and torqued to spec. The piston is lubricated and pushed into the caliper casting by hand. After final assembly, each and every caliper is taken to our test bench and pressure tested for leaks.

OUR MATERIALS:
Designing a brake caliper specifically for use on saltwater boat trailers is a tall order. To ensure a long service life it is paramount to use specialty greases, lubricants, primers, and sealants that are designed to prevent corrosion. Our specialty grease, lubricants, primers , and sealants are rated for extreme temperatures up to 500 degrees. Our specialty grease has an extremely high tackiness to stay where it’s needed and avoids water wash out. Even the testing fluid that we use leaves behind a protective coating inside the caliper to prevent rust and corrosion. All of our greases and lubricants are compatible with EPDM rubber and brake fluid.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:
Our square cut piston seal is made of high quality EPDM rubber and is made in the USA.
Our one piece brass bleeder valves are heavy duty 7/16-20 thread and are the largest in the industry. The bleeder valves are coated with a specialty grease to prevent seizing for easy future service.
Our inlet is made of oversized forged brass and has deeper thread engagement with the brake hose.
Our dust boot is made of Silicone rubber
All of our brake calipers use Stainless Steel Pistons
All of our brake calipers use Stainless Steel sleeves and guide bolts.
Our caliper casting is Dacromet coated

We design each caliper for a long service life. We believe in our process and offer the LONGEST trailer brake caliper warranty in the industry at 4 YEARS. If you have an issue with your caliper within 4 years of installation we will replace it at no cost to you.
