This galvanized boat trailer axle is manufactured by Dexter Axle and has a 2200 lb. weight capacity. Dexter Axle galvanized boat trailer axles are Hot-Dipped Galvanized for optimal corrosion resistance and superior protection from salt water. Dexter Axle is a leader in axle manufacturing and features AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS. These axles are made of 2 inch x 2 inch x 3/16 inch thick square tubing. These 2200 pound Boat Trailer Axles typically use 4 or 5 Lug Hubs, offered on our website in Hot Dipped Galvanized
The straight spindle design on the 2200lb axle accommodates the following bearing and seal sizes:

-Inner Bearing - 44649 or 1 1/16 inch inner diameter

-Outer Bearing - 44649 or 1 1/16 inch inner diameter
-Grease seal - 1 1/2 inches inner diameter
The spindle features a Stainless Steel Wear Sleeve to allow for long term protection for your seal surface. This ensures your seal surface won't corrode away, meaning it will not pit or rust which would normally lead to letting water into your hub.  Dexter Axle spindles also feature an E-Z Lube system, which allows easy greasing and regular maintenance of bearings. The grease travels through the center of the spindle and pushes out the old grease forward towards the front of the hub and out your dust cap, therefore replacing the old grease with new fresh grease.  A castle nut and spindle washer are included on each spindle.

Our Axles DO NOT REQUIRE DRILLING OR WELDING!

Our MADE IN THE USA , Proprietary and Patent Pending Adjustable Spring Seats allow for adjustment to your specific measurements.  These Hot-Dipped Galvanized Adjustable Spring Seats mean your axle will last longer, with no holes for saltwater and corrosion to hide. These Galvanized Adjustable Spring seats are included free of charge with the purchase of your axle.
This Axle can be mounted using our square Galvanized Leaf Spring U-Bolt Kits available our on site. Keep in mind the length of the U-Bolt may change depending upon the amount of leafs on the leaf spring that you are using.  Match this Axle with new Trailer Leaf Springs  rated to 2200 pounds to get a fresh start!

Galvanized Axle Measurements:
This is a Straight axle with No brake flange (meaning you cannot attach brakes to this axle).  If you desire an axle that has a brake flange or V-bend please check our other product offerings.
  • Hub Face: 93 inches
  • Overall Length (tip to tip): 98 inches
  • Spring Seat Measurement: Will safety accommodate 75 inches to 80.5 inches
Hub Face (Axle Track) refers to measuring from the OUTSIDE FACE of one hub to the OUTSIDE FACE of the opposing hub ACROSS the axle.  Refer to axle measuring video for assistance. This measurement is also typically referred to as the Track Measurement or Center of Tire to Center of Tire measurement.
Spring Seat Measurement refers to the measuring of your leaf springs from the center of one spring, across the axle to the center of the opposing spring.  Getting assistance with this measurement from a friend is recommended.  Refer to axle measuring video for assistance.

The Spring Seat Measurement is very important to ensure the safe and proper installation of this axle. If your Spring Seat measurement does not fall into the specified range, we cannot guarantee the successful installation or performance of your axle.  Using a spring seat measurement that is too narrow will likely lead to your axle bending.  Using a spring seat measurement that is too wide will lead to your tires rubbing on your trailer frame and/or leaf springs.  Please verify that your Spring Seat Measurement falls into the range specified to avoid any problems.

When Doing This Project:
Typically replacing your Trailers Axle is a result of noticing structural damage as a result of corrosion or possibly the axle breaking during use. While this may seem like a difficult task, replacing your trailer axle is fairly straight forward as longs as you get all the components needed to complete the trailer axle kit project. If rust is the cause of your Axle replacement, it would also be very common that your trailers U Bolts are experiencing the same rust issue, forcing you to cut them off or break them off. For correct replacement Leaf Spring U-Bolt Kits, measure your current U Bolt Leg length, and select either the Galvanized U Bolt Kit or Stainless Steel U Bolt kit. Each U Bolt Kit will complete (1) Axle, both sides.
This axle uses 1 1/16" Wheel Bearings for both the Front Bearing and Rear Wheel Bearing. We have these Hubs available in both 4 Lug and 5 Lug Galvanized Trailer Hubs if you are needing to replace your hubs when doing this project. Some common components needed when doing the Hub replacement and installation project would be Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease, for repacking your new wheel bearings, new Trailer Dust Caps in the Accu-Lube style for your new axle, and Trailer Lug Nuts, to protect your new Hub studs and prevent rust.
While not always happening at the same time, it is very common to notice that your trailers leaf springs have also become very corroded and possibly broken at this point in your trailers life. The great news is that we have a huge selection of Trailer Leaf Springs in all the common sizes to get your trailer back in running order. While on the topic of leaf springs, it is important to take note that your leaf springs are held onto your trailers frame by Leaf Spring Mounting Bolts. If you needed to cut off or break off your Leaf Spring U Bolts, their is also a high likelihood that you will have to do the same for these mounting bolts.
The final possible piece of the puzzle if your trailers suspension system needs it would be new replacement Leaf Spring Hangers. These Suspension hangers connect your trailers leaf springs to the frame of the trailer. Their are many variations of these, but we have them available for all types of leaf springs to help you complete your project.
